A portrait does not need to be the whole person. Some portraits capture the eyes and the playfulness of a subject. Such as in this black and white portrait by Andreea Niculae (UK).
Some portraits show a third of the body and suggest a story of a party the night before or a one night stand perhaps. And other portraits use strategically placed props to show how comfortable a subject might be in her own skin.
Or a portrait can both ask, "what is she looking at" and give us the answer in a colorful way.
